<div style="text-align: justify;">For the fourth year Spain is the leading country at EU level for its surface dedicated to organic farming: in 2011 the total surface reached 1,845,039 ha (1,650,866 ha in 2010), with an increase of + 11,76%. Almost all the Spanish regions showed an increase of organic surfaces. <br>The number of operators in 2011 reached 32,837 (+ 18.23% on 2010).<br>The first region for the number of operators is Andalusia (10,203), followed by Castilla-La Mancha (7,266) and Estremadura (3, 424).<br>In 2011, the number of producers grew up to 32,206 (+15.59% on 2010), importers to 101 (93 in 2010), but processors' number decreased to 2,729 (-0.66%).&nbsp; <br>Concerning the type of organic farming, pastureland and meadows have occupied 913,786 ha (+61,276 ha on 2010), and forests (up to 220,273 ettari, + 2,827 ha on 2010).
