News

Within the context of the EU Gateway Programme to Korea, the EU Commission is organizing trade missions on organic food and beverage. EU Gateway/Business Avenues is a flagship programme of the EU helping European companies, especially small and medium-sized, to establish long-lasting business collaborations in Asia through matchmaking and business services. Between 2008 and 2014, 435 European companies participated to more than 6,400 individual business meetings over 15 missions to Korea, and two-thirds of previous participants reported positive business collaboration results after one year.

The new EU Gateway to Korea was officially launched on 8 June, and the food and beverage is one of five key areas selected for the program (https://www.eu-gateway.eu). The first business mission on organic food and beverages will take place during the first week of November, in connection with the Food Week Korea (Seoul, 31 October-4 November 2016). The selected companies participating in the missions (lasting a full week) in Korea will be offered a number of services: market presentation sessions, on-site visits, B2B meetings, legal advice, logistical support in the exhibition context.

The existence of an agreement between the EU and South Korea for the mutual recognition of organic production certification systems, in force since 1 February 2015, provides a valuable tool for operators, allowing the marketing of European products in Korea with the EU organic production label (both the European label and the Korean are allowed), without the need for double certification.

The general promotion of the program, as well as the promotion and recruitment for each business mission, are made by entrepreneurs based in Europe through multipliers and direct marketing.

The deadline for companies  to submit their application is 15 July 2016.
