Vice-Minister Olivero inaugurates 'Sana' in Bologna (IT)

Deputy Agriculture Minister Mr. Andrea Olivero inaugurated today the 29th edition of SANA, the annual International Exhibition of Organic agriculture organized by Bologna Fiere. Organic agriculture continues to represent a leverage for Italian agriculture and sustainability of productions, and the latest data confirm the strong growth trend in 2016.

"It is important to emphasize – said in his opening speech Andrea Olivero - the positive performance of the Italian organic sector also in 2016. A 20% increase in surfaces and operators demonstrates how this sector is relevant to a large proportion of farms, representing a conscious choice for the environment. Actions put in place by the Government have recognized the validity of the model, while specific tools have been set up to address the sector's growth: a strategic plan, a framework national law, the introduction of certified organic canteens, and the reinforcement of rules governing the control system. All these tools are part of a single plan conceived to harmonize the virtuous growth of the entire system. Even at European Union level, our action is  permanently focused on maintaining high the level of standards required for organic products, so to defend producers and consumers".
