Veneto: the boom of organic viticulture (IT)

The Veneto organic viticulture is growing rapidly, so much so that it went from just about 1,400 hectares in 2008 to the current 4,500 in 2016, that is three times more. Also extraordinary the increase recorded in the last 3 years (2014-2016): more than 165%.

On this topic, the Veneto Agri-food Economic Observatory of ‘Veneto Agricoltura’ (in collaboration with the Veneto Region and Avepa) carried out a survey among producers of grapes and organic wine aimed at collecting testimonies and sentiment of the state of the sector. The results of this interesting work was presented at Vinitaly in Verona.

Quantitative research, undertaken on a sample of 263 holdings, allowed to outline the sector’s main strengths and weaknesses, as well as the opportunities and threats of the organic wine market for the regional producers and processors.

What emerged is the vision perceived by the operators on the basis of their experience and the daily life of their holdings.
