Imports: the new regulation (EU) 2020/786 amending regulation (EC) n. 1235/2008 (IT)

Now published in the Official Journal of the European Union, series L 190 of 16 June 2020, the Implementing regulation (EU) 2020/786 amending and correcting Regulation (EC) No 1235/2008 laying down detailed rules for implementation of Council Regulation (EC) No 834/2007 as regards the arrangements for imports of organic products from third countries.

The Regulation updates Annexes III and IV of Reg. (CE) No 1235/2008 following the information periodically sent to the Commission by third countries and by the authorities and control bodies authorized to certify in equivalence.

The most important updates concern the cancellation of the Indian Control Body "Indian Society for Certification of Organic Products (ISCOP)" as suspended by the country's authority and the elimination in Annex III of product category F (vegetative propagation material and seeds for cultivation) to Japan, as the country does not have rules for the organic production of these materials and therefore it will be necessary to operate as per Annex IV, recognising new control bodies for this category of products.

A long series of changes has also been added to update data relating to different authorized Control Bodies.
