The Start Up Bio project - funded by the EU under the Erasmus Plus Program, Key Action 2 - Strategic Partnerships for Innovation - was launched in November 2019 and will end in early November 2021.It aims at supporting and facilitating transition and innovation processes of rural enterprises accompanying them to the conversion from the conventional production to the organic production by offering to the prior targets (youngsters interested in becoming organic farmers and entrepreneurs interested in adopting organic agriculture) high quality training opportunities and promoting ICT-based learning (self-tutorial and e-learning paths).

The project received the Italian Ministry of Agriculture – Mipaaf institutional endorsement as part of the 2014-2020 National Rural Network Program. It is carried out with the support of an international partnership including Centoform (Italy), an important Italian vocational training institution,  FederBio Servizi (Italy), Ecovalia (Spain), Agrobio (Portugal), Akep (Greece) and FiBL Europe (Belgium).

As foreseen by the project, the first free courses dedicated to young organic farmers and farmers who wish to convert their farm to organic have been designed and implemented. The expected number of trained organic farmers will be 80 operators for each country (IT, HL, ES, PT), for a total of 20 operators. Thanks to the project implementation, the expected number of organic start-ups will be almost 10 “new enterprises” and almost 100 converted companies. More information can be found on the project web site.
