A World Alliance on Bio-Districts

The International Bio-Districts Network “IN.N.E.R.” has signed an important protocol of understanding with the world's largest organic organizations: ALGOA, IFOAM Organics International, IFOAM Asia, IFOAM EU, OFSP, Baltic Foundation.

The agreement stems from the need to make internationally known and spread the experiences of territorial organic products, capable of generating sustainable food systems, through the involvement of all the actors of a specific area.

After a four-year research (2016-2019), CREA has now published a study on Italian districts, carried out under the 2014-20 National Rural Development Program.


Bio-Districts: the results of the First World Congress

Fifteen years ago, in 2004, the Cilento Bio-District was born, the first in Italy. Since then the protagonists of the bio-district experience have proceeded to codify it and export it to many other areas, thanks to the establishment of the international network of bio-districts (IN.N.E.R.). Today in Italy alone there are 32 bio-districts (or ‘ecoregions’ as they are called abroad) and others were born in France, Austria, Spain and Portugal.


Mipaaf: the "Food Districts", a new initiative including organic productions

The Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies presented the "Food Districts", a new legislative tool to guarantee further resources and opportunities for the growth and relaunching of supply chains and territories at national level. At the event, hold in Bergamo,  the lines of action for the new Districts and some examples of already operational realities were presented. The new Districts are defined as:
