Gerald Hermann, a pioneer in the organic sector (he was president of Naturland and IFOAM, today he is director of Organic Services, and is known worldwide as one of the leading experts in the organic agri-industry) publishes a reflection on the sector that has been shattered by various scandals on national and international levels. The bigger the scandals, the more dramatic the consequences for the countries of origin, which brings about huge shifts in international commodity flows, as import and export figures indicate.

New rules on import of organic products from 2017

As of 1 January  2017 new control measures included in the TARIC to identify  imported  organic products from conventional ones  will come into force across the European Union. It is a major step forward for the harmonization of the level of controls, applied by several Member States on imported organic products.
