Spain: 2016 data on organic farming confirm the sector growth

The Spanish Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environment has published the first data on organic production in Spain for 2016. These data confirm the sustained growth trend and consolidation of the sector which makes Spain the first producer at European level and among the top five major producing countries worldwide.

FIBL: the new data about organic farming in the world and in Europe

The latest global data on organic farming worldwide were  presented by the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (FiBL) and IFOAM – Organics International at the BIOFACH 2017 in Nuremberg. They indicate that the positive trend seen in the past years continues: consumer demand is increasing, reflected in the significant market growth of 11 percent in the United States, the world’s largest organic market.

French organic farming: a very dynamic 2015

Agence Bio presented in Paris the 2015 report of the French organic sector. The French market registered record figures, with for example the birth of more than 200 organic farms a month. Cultivated surfaces, production volumes, in-conversion farms, consumption. In 2015, the French market for organic food products reached 5.76 billion euro, an increase of 14.7% compared to 2014:  in Europe, it was the market with the highest growth trend. And the threshold of 5% of organic UAA was trespassed.
