Maurizio Martina, the Italian Minister of Agriculture, visited SANA, the International Exhibition dedicated to organic productions taking place in Bologna. "Italy confirms its European leadership in the organic sector –said Mr. Martina- : 300,000 hectares converted in 2016, an area equal to the entire province of Bologna, including homes and offices.

Agence Bio: organic farming in the EU and in the world

The French Agency for organic farming, Agence Bio, has published the 2016 edition of two interesting publications, developed the Observatoire National de l'Agriculture Biologique: "La Bio dans l'Union Européenne" and "La Bio dans le monde" .


Eurostat: now available "Agriculture, forestry and fishery statistics - 2016 edition"

The publication elaborated by  Eurostat presents a selection of data on the evolution of the agricultural sector in Europe. Divided into seven chapters, the report gives facts and figures on the agricultural structures, agricultural accounts and prices, agricultural products, agriculture and the environment, forestry and fisheries production in the EU for the year 2015. This year, an entire chapter is devoted to the role of dried vegetables in the EU.


Spain: a leading role in Europe for organic farming

MAPAMA, the Spanish "Ministerio de Agricultura y Pesca, Alimentacion y Medio Ambiente" , in a comment to the statistical data related to the organic sector in 2015 confirms that the country continues to remain the leader in Europe for organically cultivated surfaces, surfaces that have doubled in the last 10 years.


Eurostat: organic crop area on the rise in the European Union

Organic farming continues its growth in the EU: it is what the latest data released by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union,   confirm. With more than 11 million hectares of certified area or area under conversion in 2015, organic farming made up 6.2% of the EU total utilised agricultural area (UAA). Since 2010, the area devoted to organic farming has grown by almost two million hectares. Similarly, an upward trend can be observed for the number of registered organic producers.


Spain: now available data about organic farming sector for the year 2014

The Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment Spaniard has published the official  statistical data on organic surfaces and operators in the country updated to 31 December 2014.  The document,  "Agricultura ecologica - Estadisticas 2014", as every year, contains all the information about operators, surfaces, animal husbandry, aquaculture both at national and provincial level.


FIBL-IFOAM: organic farming in the world continues to grow

The 2016 edition of "The World of Organic Agriculture" was  launched at BIOFACH 2016 by FIBL and IFOAM. The book contains the latest area, market and operator data on organic agriculture worldwide. Data indicate that, at the end of 2014,  the organic surface in the world  reached  43.7 million hectares, an increase of about 0.5 million hectares compared to 2013.
