IFOAM Climate Work Camp – Organic key multipliers develop organic climate strategies – Rome

The event is organised by the IFOAM EU Group, IFOAM
International and the Italian Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies in conjunction
with the Round Table on Organic Agriculture & Climate Change (RTOACC). It will start on 4pm,
Monday 22 November and will continue next day,&nbsp; Tuesday 23 November.<br>The objectives
are:<br><ul><li>Develop strategies to effectively respond to climate change threats &amp;
opportunities.</li></ul><ul><li>Become familiar with current activities and policy
environments.</li></ul><ul><li>Develop strategy for UNFCCC submissions and technical
support.</li></ul><ul><li>Identify the direct impact for EU lobbying.</li></ul><ul><li>Provide key
stakeholders with a good foundation that will enable them to cope with the situation in their home
country.<br></li></ul>The expected Outcomes: the result of the Work camp is the base for a first
version of an IFOAM position (internal declaration) on the recommendation for a climate policy for
its members. The position to be further discussed via a membership consultation and at the Biofach
Congress in Nuremberg in February 2011 and to be approved by the World Board in April 2011 and
internally advocated for at the IFOAM Organic World Conference and General Assembly in Korea in
2011. Furthermore a reader with presentations, discussions and the final outcome of the camp is
internally published. Advocacy strategies towards policy makers on EU and world level are developed
and key stakeholders in EU and beyond are strengthened in their work.<br><br>The IFOAM web- site
