Ismea and Firab (the Italian Foundation for Research in Organic and Biodynamic Farming) presented, at BioFach Nuremberg, a survey on Italian export of organic products in the EU. The survey was undertaken on a sample of 100 organic operators export-oriented. Germany, France and UK continue to be the reference Countries for Italian export, but also other Northern Countries are increasing import, such as Sweden and Danemark.
Among extra-European States, the leading Italian organic products import Countries are now Switzerland, Japan, USA, with some marginal Countries like Canada, Russia and China.
In spite of recession, operators are rather optimist. For half of the sample (55%), export activity should confirm its growth, while only 3% of operators has given a negative opinion, foreseeing a decrease in the foreign sales. The survey indicates as well the operators strong will to search for new market opportunities. They are now concentrating on Russia, China, India and Brasil that, following operators' opinion, present the best potential for growth.
The survey indicates that Italian organic export continues to be in "good health", and that the sector is not touched by the crises, but on the contrary it continues a steady growth, with stable, medium-high prices.

Source: Ismea – Firab
