<div align="justify">IFOAM EU has developed its position
on the improvement of the control system in organic agriculture. In a letter to the European
Commission the Federation forward different proposals, like improvements in monitoring and import of
organic products, the accreditation of Control Bodies in third countries, how the
controls based on risk analysis are conducted in the various Member States. <br>The main
reason for the development of such a position was the fraud detected in Italy in 2011 and the report
of the European Commission that followed this case (Ref. No. COM (2012) 2121, published on 11
May 2012). The report concluded that 'The Commission recognizes that the control system can be
improved and will work in this direction with the Member States.'<br></div><br><a href="http://www.ifoam.org/about_ifoam/around_world/eu_group-new/positions/Pa…
