During October 2011, prices at the source of Italian organic products were substantially stable in relation to September, while they showed a slight decrease in relation to the same month of 2010.

Prices at consumers' level for the main products showed a moderate increase (higher than the price at the farm), at the same time decreasing a bit as a tendency, always in relation to the same period of 2010. Furthermore, with reference to the prices at the source, the organic products vis-à-vis of the conventional ones did record again a prices' trend showing a lower rate of inflation for the livestock sector (diary products, cows and eggs), and in the sector of vegetables, whilst the contrary happaned in the fruit, cereals and pigs sectors.

The market note (in Italian)

Source: ISMEA
