<div style="text-align: justify;">The effects of recent court
ruling and amendments to the US Organic Law. On 7 March, 2006, the US
Department of Agricolture (USDA) released a 22-page 'Report to
Congress' on the impact of the Harvey vs. Johanns court decision and
the subsequent Congressional amendments to the Organic Food Production
Act (OFPA). The report addresses the financial impacts of changes to
National Organic Program's (NOP) dairy standards as well as to
standards related to the use of synthetic ingredients in processed
organic foods.As part of its response to both a lawsuit and to
Congressional actions that forced changes to its regulations, the NOP
has released an analysis of the economic and other impacts of the
amendments. The agency has also begun the initial steps of the
rulemaking process in an effort to meet a fast-approaching deadline for
implementation of new standards. The USDA summarised its findings by
saying, 'The amendments passed by Congress effectively restored order
