“Organic products, 2012 turnover overcome 3 billion euro”, by Massimo Agostini

<div style="text-align: justify;">Organic farming sector continues to grow with a double-digit trend. In 2011 Italy reached a turnover of about 3 billion euro, out of which 1.8 billions as a result of retail trades, and 500 millions through supermarket chains.To these amounts organic lunches at canteens in schools can be added, and 500 specilised restaurants. The Italian organic total surface -including the one in conversion-&nbsp; reached&nbsp; 1,113,742 ha, with 47.663 organic farms.The "organic consumer" identikit has been traced by Fondazione Impresa: in 2011, 58.6% of Italians are inclined to spend more for organic products; 19.7% of consumers usually or often buy organic, 33.9% sometimes, and 13.2% rarely, whilst 33.1% never.
