Agroecology Europe position paper “A fair transition of livestock systems through agroecology”

Agroecology Europe, the European association promoting agroecology as a set of practices, a science and a movement across Europe, shared its position paper on livestock systems through agroecology following the establishment of the EU Livestock Workstream launched by EU Commissioner Hansen in the framework of the Nature Restoration Law implementation design. This publication also wishes to contribute to the discussions of the SCAR (Standing Communities on Agricultural Research) Animal Health and Welfare Collaborative working group. AEEU underlines that support at European and national level should refrain from supporting intensification of animal production disconnected from the availability of agricultural land that provide the necessary feed resources, and should increase direct support to livestock farmers and pastoralists, ensuring a fair standard of living for them.
